Avril at Bossey

An international, ecumenical adventure

Jenni and Pete got married!

It is very exciting when a friend gets married. It is even more exciting when two friends get married to each other. My friends Jenni Walker and Peter Stoakes were married on Saturday and it was wonderful!

My only unhappiness was the weather. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, a day that would be fine in February but was bizarre in mid-April. (Northern hemisphere Bosseyites, think mid-October.) Expecting cool, or even cold, weather, I had bought myself a great jacket for the occasion and wore it for the ceremony but then had to change before I melted.

(Has anyone else noticed something weird with our weather? It’s almost like the climate is changing, or the globe is warming, or something.)

Jenni and Pete, as you can see, both looked fabulous.

Jeff Jackson, friend of the bride and groom, took wedding photos, with a surprising lack of tackiness. (Not surprising in relation to Jeff, but in relation to wedding photographers in general. There was another wedding at the same park on the same afternoon and from what I could see of the wedding party and the poses they were put into, ours was clearly the superior event. :-) )

I didn’t take any photos of myself, not being Peter Parker, so I can’t show you what I looked like as Best Man, but I can show you what the Bridesmaid looked like. This is Kerryn Connor, Jenni’s big sister.

Jenni and Pete’s way of deciding which children to invite was to limit it to those children at whose birth Jenni had been present. This meant that there were four, Jenni’s niece and nephew and the son and daughter of her friend, Jane. Here are two of the four, Matthew and Miriam.

Wonderful, wonderful day. As soon as I can, I’ll show you photos of me as Best Man, with my hair and make-up done! But not wearing a dress or heels. I didn’t want to spoil the day by breaking an ankle.
